CIT 2The CIT2 - IT Engineer program is an advanced training course which covers the two additional exam topics to become an MCSE: Server Infrastructure from an MCSA, the CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) and the CCNA Security certification topics.

At the end of the course students will be able to implement, manage and troubleshoot medium to large size computer network based on Microsoft Windows Server 2012 platform and Cisco routers, switches and VoIP/Unified Communication devices and software.

The NYBI CIT2 provides students plenty of hands-on lab exercises throughout the course. Utilizing VMWare and Hyper-V, students can set up and manipulate multiple servers and PCs simultaneously.

Curriculum

Designing and Implementing a Server Infrastructure 1.5 weeks
Instructor-led: 22.5 hours
Lab: 4.5 hours
Focusing on designing and implementing a Windows Server 2012 infrastructure, this unit covers skills and knowledge needed to plan, design, and deploy a physical and logical Windows Server with Active Directory Domain Services infrastructure, name resolution, application integration, optimization of automate remediation, and maintenance of network services.
Implementing an Advanced Server Infrastructure 1.5 weeks
Instructor-led: 22.5 hours
Lab: 4.5 hours
Focusing on Windows Server 2012 advanced features, the unit covers how to plan and implement some of the more advanced features available in Windows Server 2012
CCNA 4 weeks
Instructor-led: 60 hours
Lab: 12 hours
Students will learn how to install, configure and operate simple-routed LAN, routed WAN and switched LAN networks to increase bandwidth, improve response times and enhance reliability and quality of service. In addition, students will learn techniques that can save employers' time and money by reducing network downtime, addressing network security issues, and ensuring maximum network performance.
CCNA Security 4 weeks
Instructor-led: 60 hours
Lab: 12 hours
Students will learn how to to recognize threats and vulnerabilities, develop and maintain a security infrastructure, and mitigate security threats. This includes installing, monitoring and troubleshooting of network devices to maintain security of data and devices, and competency in its security structure.
Total 11 weeks
198 hours
Instructor-led: 165 hours
Lab: 33 hours

This course prepares students for the following exams:

Prerequisites

High School Diploma/ GED, and completion of the CIT1, MCSA or equivalent level of knowledge.

Occupational Objectives

Upon completion of the course, students will be qualified to be an enterprise systems administrator, IT systems manager, enterprise security administrator, systems architect, network administrator or network engineer.
