This course is designed to prepare recent immigrants or others who do not use English on their own to perform job and life tasks successfully. The course focuses on the needs of students to find information, make themselves understood in speech and writing, and learn the structures used in a variety of work and social situations in the United States.

Knowledge Objectives

At the end of ESL Introductory 1, students will have learned how:

Assessment Methods

Grading / Progress

Student will advance to the next level of ESL Introductory 2, upon successful demonstration of competence in 75% of the performance outcomes with and 80% mastery as documented on their competency checklists. Most students require up to three times to complete this level.
